BISHOP D'ARCY: A CLEAR, CONCISE, PIERCING LETTER TO FR. JENKINS OF NOTRE DAME
Just in case Fr. Jenkins, President of Notre Dame, doesn't get it, Bishop D'arcy has released a letter to him that clarifies erroneous positions taken by Notre Dame in order to justify its invitation to President Obama. Read the great letter here.
I am not sure but I doubt that the President was invited to South Bend to discuss the subject of abortion. The fact that at least 54% of registered Catholics cast their vote for the President in the historic November election seems to dwarf the numbers of supporters that the bishop cites. Mr Obama is president of all Americans.
****Exactly the point, John. Had the President been invited to discuss the matter, there would be no confusion. The point is, he is invited in order to be honored--to receive an honorary law degree. It's the fact that the university is honoring him that is the problem. As far as a majority of Catholics voting for him, that truth does not obscure another truth--that this President is anti-life and Catholics who honor him turn their back on God and their faith.
